He is the bestselling author of The Revenge of Ideology: The Hidden Forces Reshaping Global Power, a provocative examination of how ideology is transforming international competition and the global order. The book features a foreword by Admiral James Stavridis, former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe, and endorsements from former Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta, General Timothy Haugh, former Director of the National Security Agency, and other leading figures in national security and global affairs.
A frequent television commentator, Jake regularly provides geopolitical analysis for Fox News, NewsNation, Al Jazeera, BBC, and other international media outlets.
Jake serves as a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, a Nonresident Senior Associate at the CSIS Hess Center for New Frontiers, and an advisor and instructor for the U.S. Department of State. He has advised prime ministers, senior military leaders, diplomats, government officials, and Fortune 500 executives on geopolitical risk, strategic foresight, artificial intelligence, emerging technology, and global change.
During a 21-year career as a U.S. Air Force intelligence officer, Jake served in senior assignments at the Pentagon, National Security Agency, U.S. Pacific Command, U.S. Embassy Berlin, and multiple deployments to the Middle East. He founded the Air Force’s Strategic Foresight and Futures Team at the Pentagon and later established the Center for Futures Intelligence at the National Intelligence University, helping pioneer the application of strategic foresight within the U.S. national security community.
Today, Jake works with organizations around the world to move beyond conventional forecasting, identify emerging strategic shifts, and make better decisions under conditions of uncertainty. His keynotes connect geopolitics, strategic foresight, AI and emerging technology, global risk, and leadership to the decisions executives and organizations are making now.
Jake holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa and graduate degrees from The Fletcher School at Tufts University, the Air Force School of Advanced Air and Space Studies, the Air Command and Staff College, and a BA from Norwich University. His writing and analysis have appeared in Harvard Business Review, The National Interest, The Diplomat, and other leading publications.
